Race Info

The John Glaser Memorial 5K Run/Walk is being held on Saturday October 8, 2011 in honor of Shawnee firefighter John Glaser and benefits the John Glaser Memorial Fund and the Surviving Spouse and Family Endowment Fund (SAFE). SAFE supports the families of Law Enforcement Officers, Firefighters and Emergency Services Personnel in the Kansas City metropolitan area who have perished while protecting our community and our citizens. As a participant of the John Glaser Memorial 5K, you will receive: IPICO chip timing, cotton race shirt, raffle prizes, and top overall, masters, and 5 year age group awards. The race course will feature an aid station and large mile markers, together with food and beverages at the finish.

Race Start Time: 8:00am followed by a kids run at 9:15am

Race Start Location: Fire Station 71 Headquarters 6501 Quivira Shawnee, Kansas.


5K Run Registration fee:

  • $20 by August 15
  • $25 by October 7
  • $30 on October 8

Kids Run Registration fee:

  • $5 by October 1
  • $10 after October 1

Packet Pickup: Packet pickup will be at the Garry Gribble’s Running Sports in the Stoll Park Shopping Center at 119th and Quivira in Overland Park on Friday, October 7 from noon to 6:00pm.

You can also pick up your packet on the day of the event at the event site from 6:30 to 7:45am.

Age Group Awards: Prizes will be awarded to the top three male and female finishers in the following age categories: 14 and under, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75+

Awards not picked up at the event will be available at Garry Gribble’s Running Sports in Stoll Park Shopping Center beginning on October 10th.


Registration fees will not be refunded under any circumsatances.
